Tutorials for being Artful at Home

When the dreaded Covid reared its ugly head in early 2020, I began sharing easy but cool art tutorials for folks to do at home. It’s 2022 and, while it isn’t as awful as it was the first year, the virus is still affecting us all. So, if you are in the need for a little creative therapy, make some art! It’s good for the soul.

Links below each photo for material list and instructions. All projects are also on both my FB and Insta pages.

Portrait collages

Today's stay-home art project is a portrait collage. I am a big fan of collage; I use it in many of my artworks. This project was really the brainchild of my lovely niece Savannah quite a few years ago. We had a great time creating a bunch of portrait collages for her friends.

Flying fish eggs

This week I am going to feature creative projects with eggs. Yes, they are iconic of Easter but they are also symbolize rebirth and rejuvenation. Also, eggs are cool. Go here for the material list and instructions to make the flying fish: tiny fantastical sweet beasts!.

Foam tray prints

Materials are covered in this short video. Part one of the tutorial is here and part two is here. I am working on my video-filming skills; bear with me! A few extra notes: experiment on different papers. Once your print has dried, try adding details on top of it with colored pencil or markers. Try printing on envelopes. Now is a good time to write an old-fashioned letter and send mail art to a friend or family member; it's such a treat to get fun snail mail.
